About The Position

The Occupational Therapist works in the Health Center, providing patient and resident assessment, care planning, direct treatment, and consultation for a general rehabilitation caseload. The role participates in the interdisciplinary team process, teaches and trains caregiving staff, and contributes to clinical program development. The schedule is full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with weekend availability required.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
Two years of clinical experience in a skilled nursing facility or medically related area.
State of Florida professional licensure.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to use independent and effective clinical judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Effective time-management skills.
Ability to function effectively in multifaceted systems and interact effectively with all levels of staff and customers.
Strong organizational and analytical skills.

Nice To Haves

Master of Science degree.

Responsibilities

Evaluate, identify, and treat physical and cognitive deficits that interfere with residents’ ability to perform daily life activities, following recommendations on physicians’ orders.
Design restorative programs and train residents in the use of adaptive equipment.
Develop and enter care plans in the system for each resident’s needs, and maintain timely and accurate documentation.
Perform resident home assessments as part of the discharge process.
Screen residents during admission and conduct quarterly and annual screenings to determine the need for therapy.
Participate in the interdisciplinary team process.
Provide teaching and training to caregiving staff.
Participate in clinical program development.
