Origami Rehabilitation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization providing comprehensive rehabilitation for children and adults with neurological, developmental, mental health, and orthopedic conditions through residential and outpatient programs. As an adult and pediatric Occupational Therapist (OT), you will deliver exceptional rehabilitation care services under the direct supervision of the Occupational Therapy Supervisor (OTS) and with guidance from the Clinical Manager (CM). This role involves developing and implementing tailored occupational therapy services precisely aligned with assessments and physician prescriptions, with a strong emphasis on effective, timely, and inclusive communication with stakeholders.

Requirements

  • A degree in Occupational Therapy and licensure in the state of Michigan.
  • Pediatric rehabilitation education/experience
  • Certification as a Brain Injury Specialist (provided by Origami after hire)
  • CPR, First Aid, AED certification (provided by Origami)

Responsibilities

  • Model appropriate behavior conducive to a positive working and therapeutic environment.
  • Proactively initiate and follow-through with tasks utilizing appropriate problem-solving techniques to facilitate communication flow and prompt resolutions.
  • Attend clinical reviews and care conferences as appropriate.
  • Evaluate and document findings and prepare and implement treatment plans for clients referred by physicians.
  • Follow schedule tracker and communication protocols for therapy related scheduling needs.
  • Maintain professional excellence through attending networking opportunities, establishing collegial relationships, sharing resources and skills, and seeking out opportunities to speak, publish, and contribute to research.
  • Maintain caseload levels at a level deemed reasonable by the OTS.
  • Understand and follow emergency procedures.
  • Provide interns, volunteers, and job shadows meaningful educational experiences.
  • Contribute to the design and maintenance of effective and timely systems of documentation, including the collection and analysis of outcome data and auditing systems.
  • Record evaluations, daily progress notes, discharge reports, and service billings in a timely manner and in accordance with procedure to provide complete documentation for client charts.
  • Adhere to ethical guidelines set forth by the American Occupational Therapy Association and practice in accordance with the State of Michigan regulations.
  • Observe all rules of confidentiality as they pertain to program participants internally, and in working with outside individuals and/or agencies.
  • Attend staff meetings, orientation, in-service training as assigned.
  • Serve on designated clinical quality improvement and program development committees.
  • Participate in program development, budget planning, and small therapy supply inventory.
  • Other duties as assigned by the OTS.
  • Report equipment and building repair needs, IT requests, and purchase requests.
  • Provide caseload coverage for the various specialty areas provided by OT.
