About The Position

Through the Looking Glass is seeking a full-time Occupational Therapist. This role involves serving children with disabilities and parents with disabilities, with close mentorship provided by current TLG OTs. The position requires providing developmental consultation, home-based and center-based assessment and early intervention for children under five, adaptive parenting services for parents with physical or vision disabilities, and supporting quality interactions between children and parents. The OT will also coordinate interventions with other providers and complete necessary record-keeping.

Requirements

  • Master’s in occupational therapy.
  • California OT License.
  • Experience or internship with children with disabilities is a must.
  • Possession of a California Occupational Therapy license.
  • Candidates must have a reliable personal vehicle, maintain current personal auto insurance as mandated by law, and ensure they remain reasonably insurable under the agency’s auto liability policies.
  • State regulations require a physical examination, immunizations, current tuberculosis test, and verified fingerprint and criminal record check before hiring.
  • Ability to use computers for completing assessments, writing reports, and progress notes.

  • Bilingual, bi-literate preferred, English/Spanish or ASL, and other language ability based on program needs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide developmental consultation to staff at Oakland Head Start/Early Head Start programs.
  • Provide home-based and center-based assessment and early intervention for children under the age of five years.
  • Provide adaptive parenting services to parents with physical or vision disabilities.
  • Support quality interaction and relationships between infants or children and parents.
  • Coordinate intervention during teamwork with other TLG and community providers.
  • Complete necessary record-keeping and reports.
  • Respect cultural and disability differences in a diverse community.
  • Other duties as assigned.
