About The Position

Provides occupational therapy to patients according to patient needs and medical direction. Educates patients and caregivers and arranges adaptive equipment as needed. This part-time position is based at Corewell Health’s Lakeland Health Park Medical Office Building 2 in St. Joseph and has 24 scheduled hours per week. The position works days; specific days and weekend frequency are not stated.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from an accredited occupational therapy program.
• Michigan Occupational Therapist license upon hire.
• Occupational Therapist, Registered (OTR) certification from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy upon hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association within 90 days, or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Red Cross within 90 days.

Nice To Haves

• Master’s degree.
• Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) credential from the Hand Therapy Certification Commission Hand Therapy Program upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients to assess disability within scope of practice, establish goals and a treatment plan, and make appropriate recommendations.
• Provide treatment and education to restore and maximize patient function; assess treatment effectiveness and modify goals or methods as needed.
• Document patient evaluations and treatment in accordance with department, medical-legal, and reimbursement standards.
• Instruct and train rehabilitation staff, nursing staff, other medical personnel, and students regarding patient needs and rehabilitation services.
• Participate in process improvement, patient satisfaction initiatives, program development, and marketing activities.
• Meet department productivity standards.
• Develop skills through continuing education, in-services, competencies, new patient-care concepts, and work with additional population groups.
