About The Position

This Occupational Therapist position is a 1.0 FTE role, split between Studley (0.5) and ELC (0.5), and will extend through June 2026. The role begins as soon as possible and ends on 6/26/2026. The purpose of this role is to identify and provide supports and services to address sensory, cognitive, motor, health, and well-being needs that impact school function, community integration, continued education, and transitions toward employment.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy (Doctorate if required)
  • Massachusetts State License as Occupational Therapist
  • Current Certification by The National Board for Certification In Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)

Nice To Haves

  • Safety Care trained preferred
  • Experience with students with behavioral and social emotional needs.
  • Experience with school age students preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Addresses the needs of diverse learners in accordance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act
  • Supports all students in accordance with the Massachusetts Multi-Tiered Systems of Supports
  • Evaluates a student’s ability through a variety of functional, behavioral, and standardized assessments, skilled observation, checklists, histories, and interviews and provides a written report of testing results
  • Participates in multidisciplinary meetings to review evaluation results, integrates findings with other disciplines, provides recommendations using a team approach, and develops Individual Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Provides targeted, evidence-based therapeutic intervention to facilitate student participation and occupational performance within the school environment as outlined in the student’s IEP
  • Adapts and modifies the environment including use of assistive technology and training staff to meet individual needs and to help students function as independently as possible
  • Educates student, educational personnel, and family to facilitate skills in areas of occupation as well as health maintenance and safety
  • Collaborates with educational teams to achieve student outcomes.
  • Collects and analyzes data to document services to ensure accountability and to meet standards for reimbursement of services as appropriate including Medicaid billing
  • Monitors and reassess the effects of occupational therapy intervention and the need to continue, modify, or discontinue intervention.
  • Provides written report of progress for all students with each report card.
  • Participates in annual reviews of each students’ IEP
  • Involvement at the community, system, building and student levels for school-wide initiatives such as social emotional learning, Universal Design, health and wellness, assistive technology and program development
  • Assists students in preparing for successful transition into appropriate post–high school employment, independent living, and/or further education
  • Uses professional literature, evidence based research, and continuing education to ensure practice is consistent with best practice and to meet licensure requirements
  • Adheres to the professional Code of Ethics and standards of practice to guide ethical decision making in practice
  • Performs other responsibilities as deemed appropriate and assigned by a supervisor and/or designee
