About The Position

Ampersand Therapy is hiring a full-time Occupational Therapist for a caseload within Bessemer City Schools District. In this role, you’ll play a critical part in student success by conducting evaluations, supporting IEP development, and collaborating with school teams. This is a great fit for both experienced school-based OTs and those transitioning into schools.

Requirements

  • Active (or eligible) Alabama State OT license
  • National Board Certification in Occupational therapy
  • Master’s Degree or Doctorate in Occupational Therapy
  • Knowledge of assistive technology and adaptive devices for students with special needs
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

Nice To Haves

  • School-based experience preferred, not required

Responsibilities

  • Supports the school system’s vision, mission, and goals.
  • Assists in identifying and referring students with fine motor impairments.
  • Conducts occupational therapy assessments and interprets evaluation results.
  • Develops intervention plans and participates in IEP development and implementation.
  • Collaborates with teachers and staff to support student achievement of IEP goals.
  • Provides direct occupational therapy services in classroom, group, or individual settings.
  • Supports the use of assistive technology and adaptive equipment for students.
  • Maintains accurate student records and complies with special education regulations.
  • Communicates regularly with parents regarding student progress and support strategies.
  • Adheres to school policies and performs additional duties as assigned.
