Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy from an Accreditation Council of Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) approved OT program.
  • Current and valid NYS Occupational Therapy license and registration or limited permit.
  • Current and valid BLS or CPR certification from the American Heart Association - Inpatient facility only.
  • Excellent communication (both oral and written) skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree.
  • Current and valid BLS or CPR certification from the American Heart Association - Outpatient facility only.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a Hospital (Inpatient) or Orthopedic (Outpatient) Rehabilitation setting.
  • Experience in Neuro - Outpatient facility only.

Responsibilities

  • Provide appropriate therapy to help patients improve their ability to perform activities of daily living and to achieve optimal level of self-care and productivity.
  • Use clinical expertise to plan the delivery of safe, therapeutic, and age-appropriate care through examination, evaluation, diagnosis, and physical intervention.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and timely documentation reflecting the examination, evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis, plan of care, education, and interventions.
  • Interact and collaborate with other members of the healthcare team to optimize patient outcomes and health care goals.
  • Provide on-site clinical supervision to Occupational Therapist Assistants and Rehabilitation Aides.
  • Evaluate patient progress toward functional goals and modify the plan of care accordingly.
  • Provide patient, family, and clinician education regarding the patient's functional status and plan of care.
  • Perform an objective functional evaluation including appropriate tests and measures and establish a plan of care with measurable goals.
  • Implement appropriate interventions and treatment as indicated by the patient's functional status, diagnosis, and age in conjunction with the plan of care.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
