About The Position

At CPCD, we provide more than 1,100 children living in poverty, or who are challenged by special circumstances, with an early childhood education through Head Start, Early Head Start, and the Universal Preschool Program. Our additional health, dental, and family support services ensure that children enrolled in our programs are ready to succeed in school and life. Join our team and help us make a difference in the lives of children and families in our community. The Occupational Therapist will implement skilled occupational therapy services in the inclusive preschool setting, including structured assessments, screenings, treatment, and documentation of contact with children and families. They will also create and offer training to staff on physical development and appropriate interventions, and provide fine motor and sensory interventions as they apply to children.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, or Doctorate in Occupational Therapy.
  • Earned and maintained certification from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
  • Current Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) license.
  • Must possess or obtain (within 6 months of hire) a Colorado Department of Education (CDE) Special Services Provider license.
  • Adhere to the code of ethics of the Occupational Therapy profession.
  • Ability to successfully work with all stakeholders.
  • Must become knowledgeable about CPCD’s policies, rules, and regulations with respect to all functions performed.
  • Ability to maintain the confidentiality of privileged and personal information of students, families, and staff.
  • Ability to support a diverse and dynamic caseload by providing direct and consultative services to students with a wide range of special needs using knowledge of Occupational Therapy theories and practices.
  • Ability to identify and support the sensory-motor needs of students.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with frequent interruptions.
  • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Possess strong collaboration skills to work successfully with a variety of personality styles across different settings and teams.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment physical examination, TB test, drug test (including marijuana), and background check in accordance with the Office of Head Start Performance Standards and Childcare Licensing. (Physical examination and TB test thereafter as required).
  • Must have access to reliable transportation and if using a personal vehicle must maintain minimum liability insurance as determined by the State of Colorado.

  • Experience administering and scoring standardized tests relevant for the preschool population.
