Requirements

Must have a Bachelor's degree in an occupational therapy curriculum accredited by ACOTE standards
Must have initial registration from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy
Must hold a valid and unencumbered occupational therapy license as required in the state of practice

Responsibilities

Assess patient needs
Develop their recovery plans
Deliver occupational therapy
Address the whole patient and see them as an individual
Design a program that will restore, reinforce, and enhance their physical abilities and independence
Be adaptable to the needs of the patient and find joy in the variety of the work and the settings
Collaborate with peers
Make referrals to help patients get the care they need to thrive
Train patients and caregivers on the skills they need to promote independence and productivity
