About The Position

Banner Health is seeking an Occupational Therapist to join their team at Banner Del E. Webb Medical Center in Sun City West, Arizona. This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week, with day shifts available Monday through Friday from 8 am to 4:30 pm. Occasional weekend coverage may be required. The role involves evaluating, planning, administering, and supervising occupational therapy treatments in accordance with physician referrals and established policies. The Inpatient Rehabilitation Department provides therapeutic services to patients throughout the hospital, and this position is crucial for improving patient outcomes, experience, and efficiency. Requirements

  • Must have successfully completed the academic requirements of an educational program in occupational therapy approved by the appropriate governing board.
  • Must possess a current Occupational Therapy license from the State of practice.
  • Current license from state of practice.
  • BLS certification required.
  • Relates throughout the interview process their clinical competency, experience, training and education they have received that is required to perform the job.
  • Demonstrates through behaviors and answers to job related experiential questions.
  • Must have the ability to become proficient with computer software applications commonly used in an automated patient care environment.
  • Employees working for Banner Home Care AZ must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates patient's functional abilities and limitations, determines if intervention is needed, and establishes a plan of care and treatment goals.
  • Completes comprehensive evaluation within the established time frame set by the department, identifies and prioritizes key limiting factors, and establishes functional, measurable, patient-related treatment goals.
  • Collaborates with patient and family/caregiver when setting goals and initiates discharge planning.
  • Recommends additions to or modifications of referring orders.
  • Implements individualized treatment plan with consideration to the patient's physical, social, spiritual, cultural, educational, and age-specific needs.
  • Provides skilled treatment in a safe manner and assesses ongoing effectiveness of treatment, modifying the plan of care as indicated.
  • Involves patient and family/caregiver in the treatment and decision-making process.
  • Provides ongoing education to physician, nurse, patient, family/caregiver, and interdisciplinary team.
  • Documents according to standards set by the department and regulatory agencies, completing documentation within established time frames.
  • Documents innovative and individualized treatment techniques/plan, and reassesses treatment goals according to department policies.
  • Communicates pertinent patient information to ensure the best possible follow-through of care, including evaluation/treatment results and patient progress to physicians, nurses, patient, family/caregiver, co-workers, and the interdisciplinary team.
  • Accepts responsibility to contact physicians for routine or difficult problem-solving to ensure optimal patient outcome.
  • Exhibits adaptability in assignments related to caseload, scheduling, and staffing shifts, and takes initiative to assist in other patient care areas.
  • Demonstrates appropriate direction and delegation of personnel (COTA, Therapy Technician, student) to achieve safe delivery of quality, cost-effective patient care.
  • Participates in the training and orientation of new personnel and assures competency of personnel prior to delegation of tasks.
  • Participates in department/facility process improvements and meets productivity standards set by the department.
  • Interacts with all levels of staff in a variety of departments, physicians, patients, families, and external contacts concerning patient healthcare.
  • Interacts with physician offices to report, require, or clarify information.
