At Stony Brook Medicine, an Occupational Therapist is a valuable member of our team, providing clinical services to our patient population. Qualified candidates will demonstrate superior patient care and possess outstanding communication skills while adhering to our high standard of excellence. This position involves planning and providing occupational therapy treatment programs for both inpatient and outpatient settings, including the evaluation, treatment, or prevention of disability, injury, disease, or other health conditions. Treatment may encompass all aspects of Activities of Daily Living (ADL), perceptual/cognitive activities, sensorimotor activities, therapeutic craft modalities, splint fabrication, and therapeutic activities. Evaluations may include joint range of motion, muscle strength, NDT evaluation, prevocational evaluation, and sensorium. Consultation may involve adapting the physical environment for the handicapped and guidance in selecting and using adaptive equipment. The role also includes fabricating and modifying patient splints, performing ADL activities, directing and training patients in the use of prosthetics, orthotic devices, and assistive/adaptive equipment, and consulting with other healthcare team members. The candidate must be amenable to providing coverage at multiple sites and participating in weekend and holiday rotations.
