About The Position

Amedisys, part of the Optum family of businesses, provides home health, hospice, and community-based services. The Occupational Therapist evaluates and treats patients in their homes to promote independence, safety, and quality of life. The role helps individuals regain or maintain daily living skills following illness, injury, or functional decline. The therapist collaborates with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members to develop individualized treatment plans in accordance with physician orders and agency policies.

Requirements

Graduate of an occupational therapy program accredited by ACOTE of AOTA, or successor organizations of ACOTE.
Current license to practice occupational therapy in the state assigned.
Current CPR certification.
Eligible to take, or have successfully completed, the entry-level occupational therapist certification examination developed and administered by NBCOT.
At least 1 year of related occupational therapy experience. If experience is less than 1 year, approval from regional clinical leaders and appropriate mentoring and/or an established residency program are required.

Responsibilities

Provide all aspects of occupational therapy service delivery under a physician-approved plan of care.
Ensure the plan of care addresses problems identified in the assessment, or document the rationale when identified problems are not addressed.
Be accountable for the safety and effectiveness of the occupational therapy service delivery process.
Complete documentation accurately and on time.
Supervise the home health aide when an RN is not active in the case.
Perform other duties as assigned.
