Our Lifemark Harvey Avenue clinic has been operating for 25 years, and is centrally located at 1634 Harvey Avenue along Highway 97 between Global Gym and the Parkinson Recreation Centre in Kelowna. Parking is free and is a wheelchair accessible facility. The clinic is a large, multidisciplinary physiotherapy facility providing a full rehabilitation gym and private treatment rooms for physiotherapy, massage therapy, dizziness and balance and other treatments. It is easily accessible via public transportation, lots of green spaces and a nearby recreation centre in Kelowna. We are seeking an Occupational Therapist (OT) who is passionate about assisting those impacted by head injury through their individual recovery process. As an OT in our Post Concussion Management Program/Early Concussion Assessment and Treatment Program, you will play a key role in assessing and treating clients who have sustained concussions and are experiencing persistent symptoms. You will work closely with a multi-disciplinary team of physiotherapists, kinesiologists, physicians, nurses, registered massage therapists, psychologists, and many more - to deliver a comprehensive, individualized care that supports recovery and successful return to work and daily function. In addition to working with the concussion programs, you will have the opportunity to participate in other work streams such as FCEs, Community OT services and Veterans Rehabilitation services. Our OTs provide both individual and program-based treatments and assessments for individuals recovering from motor vehicle accidents and workplace injuries. They also play a pivotal role in supporting veterans, Canadian Armed Forces members, first responders, and individuals facing physical, cognitive and mental wellness goals.

Requirements

  • Registered and in good standing with the College of Health and Care Professionals of British Columbia.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of current Occupational Therapy standards, modalities and scope of practice; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • 1-3 years of experience as an Occupational Therapist is preferred.

  • Valid Driver's License and reliable vehicle, a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive, evidence-based Occupational Therapy services to clients
  • Apply clinical expertise and professional competence in the assessment, intervention, consultation, case management, discharge planning, education, and follow-up of clients
  • Perform clinical evaluations, including admission assessments, ADL assessments, specialized seating and positioning assessments
  • Identification of appropriate equipment needs with the initiation of recommendations
  • Consult with local vendors regarding equipment trials and complete applications/funding letters to the Ministry of Health, insurance agencies and other funding parties
  • Provide education on seating and positioning, independence with activities of daily living, wheelchairs and adaptive aides, as well as providing ongoing education to clients and family to improve function, independence and safety
  • Provide ongoing evaluation of restraint use, wound prevention, falls, and injury prevention.
  • Record assessment and treatment interventions in the client's chart
  • Excel in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment
  • Exhibit sound professional judgment
