Requirements

  • Occupational Therapist with a current license in the state of employment.
  • Minimum one-year experience as a OT in an acute care setting.
  • Valid driver's license and auto insurance in your name as a driver.
  • Capable of all physical demands.

Responsibilities

  • Provide skilled occupational therapy as ordered by the attending physician.
  • Observe, record, and report patient reactions, changes, and progress to attending physician and any appropriate agency staff.
  • Develop an individualized OT plan of care and make adjustments as needs change.
  • Evaluate the patient’s level of functioning by applying diagnostic and prognostic procedures.
  • Use activities and home exercise programs to improve range of motion, muscle strength, and coordination through passive/active exercise and/or activity.
  • Helps decrease re-hospitalizations by teaching the patient on preventative measures and making good decisions.
  • Counsel patient and family on the disease/injury and how to manage in all phases of occupational therapy.
  • Instruct patient and family members on proper use of equipment such as wheelchairs, braces, walkers, crutches, canes, and other prosthetic/orthotic devices.
  • Oversee and supervise total care of patient provided by COTA.
  • Communicate with the COTA on supervisory visit results.
  • Completes all clinical documentation following agency protocol and Medicare/Federal guidelines.
  • Understand and follow agency policies, procedures, rules, and regulations and communicate changes in schedule/availability to schedulers or supervisors.
  • Attend in-service training and mandatory agency meetings.
  • Educate patients and their family members and ensures the safety of the patient.
  • Completing accurate documentation and remaining compliant with all legal rules and regulations.
