About The Position

As an Occupational Therapist, you will play a critical role in helping individuals regain independence and improve their quality of life through tailored therapeutic interventions. You will assess clients' physical, emotional, and cognitive abilities to develop personalized treatment plans that address their unique rehabilitation needs. Your work will involve collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to support patients recovering from conditions such as stroke, traumatic brain injury, cerebral palsy, and orthopedic injuries. You will also provide specialized care in geriatric rehabilitation, ensuring older adults maintain functional abilities and participate actively in daily activities. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution.
  • Current registration and licensure to practice as an Occupational Therapist in Ontario.
  • Demonstrated experience in rehabilitation settings, including physical and geriatric rehabilitation.
  • Strong knowledge of neurological and orthopedic conditions affecting patient function.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with clients and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Required skills in occupational therapy and physical therapy are essential for conducting thorough patient assessments and designing effective rehabilitation programs.
  • Expertise in geriatric rehabilitation and orthopedic rehabilitation allows you to address the specific needs of older adults and patients recovering from musculoskeletal injuries.
  • Knowledge of cerebral palsy, sensory integration, and traumatic brain injury enables you to provide specialized interventions that improve sensory processing and cognitive function.
  • Stroke rehabilitation skills are critical for helping patients regain motor skills and independence after neurological events.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities, ensure you can deliver comprehensive care and collaborate effectively with healthcare professionals and families.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced certification or training in sensory integration therapy.
  • Experience working with pediatric populations, particularly children with cerebral palsy.
  • Familiarity with assistive technology and adaptive equipment for rehabilitation.

  • Proficiency in both English and French to serve diverse patient populations.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients' physical, cognitive, and sensory abilities to identify rehabilitation goals.
  • Develop and implement individualized occupational therapy treatment plans focused on improving daily living skills and functional independence.
  • Provide therapeutic interventions for patients with conditions including stroke, traumatic brain injury, cerebral palsy, orthopedic injuries, and sensory integration disorders.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals such as physical therapists, physicians, and social workers to coordinate holistic patient care.
  • Educate clients and their families on adaptive techniques, assistive devices, and strategies to support ongoing rehabilitation and prevent further injury.
  • Document clients progress and adjust treatment plans based on clinical outcomes and patient feedback.
  • Participate in community outreach and education programs to promote awareness of occupational therapy services.
