About The Position

Lifemark MNP, located in the centre of downtown Calgary, is within the largest rec centre. The clinic is a true health centre where we have a strong multidisciplinary approach to patient care. We have 10 orthopedic surgeons, along with a plastic surgeon. We have specialists such as knee surgeons working with physiotherapists to perform an interdisciplinary clinic to improve patient outcomes. Alongside, we have two unique contracts that offer unique patient-specific advice to community therapists located across Alberta. We also have a unique private cast clinic that supports the Talaris foot and ankle group to fit our model of specialized care under one roof. The clinical team at MNP are passionate about enriching the health of their clients through a holistic approach, as the Occupational Therapist, LTD & Functional Capacity Evaluations you will objectively assess a person's ability to perform daily and work-related tasks, identifying physical/cognitive limitations and guiding rehabilitation, return-to-work planning, accommodations, and support needs (like attendant care) for insurance/legal purposes. Help clients get back to meaningful activities through personalized therapy for physical, cognitive, and mental health challenges. Your impact Our OTs provide both individual and program-based treatments and assessments for individuals recovering from motor vehicle accidents and workplace injuries. They also play a pivotal role in supporting veterans, Canadian Armed Forces members, first responders, and individuals facing physical, cognitive and mental wellness goals. In this role, you will: Provide comprehensive, evidence-based Occupational Therapy services to clients Apply clinical expertise and professional competence in the assessment, intervention, consultation, case management, discharge planning, education, and follow-up of clients Perform clinical evaluations, including admission assessments, ADL assessments, specialized seating and positioning assessments Identification of appropriate equipment needs with initiation of recommendations Consult with local vendors regarding equipment trials and complete applications/funding letters to Ministry of Health, insurance agencies and other funding parties Provide education on seating and positioning, independence with activities of daily living, wheelchairs and adaptive aides as well as providing ongoing education to clients and family to improve function, independence and safety Provide ongoing evaluation of restraint use, wound prevention, falls, and injury prevention. Record assessment and treatment interventions in the client's chart Excel in a collaborative, inter-disciplinary team environment Exhibit sound professional judgment

Requirements

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of current Occupational Therapy standards, modalities and scope of practice; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Registered and in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists in your province.
  • 1-3 years of experience as an Occupational Therapist is preferred
  • Newly Licensed Graduates are accepted
  • Valid Driver's License and reliable vehicle may be required
  • In some cases, Valid Vulnerable Sector screening check
  • In some cases, Proof of Tuberculin (2-Step Mantoux Test) clearance (within 6 months)

Nice To Haves

  • Clinical experience is an asset in areas such as brain injury/neurological rehabilitation, mental health, musculoskeletal/orthopedic injury, home safety, ergonomics and/or return to work.

  • Superior interpersonal relations, communication, problem-solving, time management, computer and documentation skills
  • Proficiency in computer skills
