About The Position

As an Occupational Therapist on the assessment team, you will work closely with the Neurologist in a collaborative assessment process to determine patients’ recovery needs. You will work collaboratively with other members of the interdisciplinary team including physiotherapists, psychotherapists, neuropsychologist and psychologists. You will provide Occupational Therapy services in keeping with the College guidelines and Essential Competencies, for clients with deficits in areas of occupational performance. You will participate in Professional Practice meetings as required, supervise support personnel, students and volunteers as appropriate, and participate in program planning, continuous quality improvement and evaluation, thereby contributing to the overall vision/mandate of Trillium Health Centre and Occupational Therapy Services.

Requirements

  • Registered to practice with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario
  • Relevant experience in assessing and treating the post injury orthopaedic and Mild TBI patients, with a focus on functional recovery and return to work in an outpatient setting.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work on a dynamic, interdisciplinary team.
  • Experience with developing treatment plans to address psychosocial stressors and rehabilitation planning including return work focus.
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal, time management, organizational skills and communication skills – including report writing skills.
  • Demonstrates effective communication skills, excellent organizational skills, and can be self-directed.
  • Commitment to exceptional client centered care and continuous learning.
  • Previous experience and ability to work effectively and collaboratively with Occupational Therapist Assistants.

Nice To Haves

  • Membership in a profession specific association preferred
  • Experience as liaison with third party providers such as WSIB and Insurance providers is an asset.
  • Experience with conducting cognitive assessments and work simulation programs is an asset.
  • Experience with developing treatment plans to address psychosocial stressors and rehabilitation planning including return work focus is an asset.
