Occupational Therapist - Birth to Three

Harc Inc•Hartford, CT
•$70,000 - $75,000

About The Position

As an Occupational Therapist at Harc, Inc. Steppingstones, a state-contracted Birth to Three program, you will support the developmental needs of enrolled children, with a focus on adaptive, motor, and sensory development. You may also support infants and young toddlers with feeding or swallowing concerns in consultation with the child’s medical team. You will conduct evaluations and assessments to help determine eligibility for services and develop and implement Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs). As an IFSP team member, you will serve families as either a Primary Service Provider (PSP) or Supporting Service Provider (SSP). A PSP is the family’s main point of contact and provides most of the services; an SSP supports the family’s PSP in learning and carrying over strategies that promote the child’s development. In either role, you will recommend strategies across developmental areas, focusing on gross and fine motor skills, sensory processing, and participation in self-care routines. This may include assistive technology. You will oversee data collection to monitor progress and inform decisions about continuing services. Services take place in each child’s natural environment, such as the home or daycare, and within everyday routines and activities. Using coaching, you will help parents and caregivers understand strategies for supporting development, and help team members understand strategies for each child. The OT attends weekly regional staff meetings and meets monthly with the Program Director for one-to-one supervision. The position requires knowledge of and adherence to Connecticut Birth to Three System policies and procedures.
