About The Position

Lifemark is seeking a passionate Occupational Therapist to join their Saint John clinic. In this role, you will support clients in various ways, including concussion management and return-to-function planning. You will provide comprehensive assessments of an individual's physical, cognitive, and emotional abilities, particularly in relation to work demands or daily life activities. The clinic is located in Saint John, a historic and vibrant urban city on the Bay of Fundy. Requirements

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of current Occupational Therapy standards, modalities and scope of practice; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Registered and in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists in your province.
  • Newly Licensed Graduates are accepted.
  • Valid Driver's License and reliable vehicle may be required.
  • In some cases, Valid Vulnerable Sector screening check.
  • In some cases, Proof of Tuberculin (2-Step Mantoux Test) clearance (within 6 months).
  • Proficiency in computer skills.

Nice To Haves

  • 1-3 years of experience as an Occupational Therapist is preferred.
  • Clinical experience is an asset in areas such as brain injury/neurological rehabilitation, mental health, musculoskeletal/orthopedic injury, home safety, ergonomics and/or return to work.
  • Passion for your profession and commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Superior interpersonal relations, communication, problem-solving, time management, computer and documentation skills.
  • Bilingualism - French and English are assets.

Responsibilities

  • Provide both individual and program-based treatments and assessments for individuals recovering from motor vehicle accidents and workplace injuries.
  • Support individuals facing physical, cognitive, and mental wellness goals.
  • Evaluate the worker's physical, cognitive, and psychological functions, as well as job demands and workplace environment.
  • Create tailored, graded return-to-work plans with specific, measurable goals that gradually increase activity and build tolerance.
  • Perform clinical evaluations, provide exercises, functional tasks, and cognitive strategies (e.g., pacing, energy conservation) to address injury-related deficits.
  • Conduct Occupational Health screenings to evaluate an employee's physical, cognitive, and functional capacity to ensure they can safely perform job duties.
  • Identify appropriate equipment needs with initiation of recommendations.
  • Teach techniques like mindfulness, relaxation, and sleep hygiene to manage pain, fatigue, and emotional distress.
  • Provide education to the client and employer about the recovery process, the benefits of staying connected to work, and their roles in the plan.
  • Work with employers to identify suitable modified duties, adapt the work environment, and monitor progress.
  • Record assessment and treatment interventions in the client's chart.
  • Excel in a collaborative, inter-disciplinary team environment.
  • Exhibit sound professional judgment.
