About The Position

Manages caseload in pediatric clinic by acknowledging and consulting regarding the need for occupational therapy involvement and seeks out referrals to ensure comprehensive client care. Completes an appropriate depth of occupational therapy assessment as required by COTO Assessment Standards by reviewing care requirements based on best practice protocols or care paths. Compiles subjective for parent or guardian and objective data from informal and formal sources regarding client’s feeding and developmental progression. Determines and completes treatment interventions that are consistent with the practice setting, evidence based practice and clinical experience. Documents all elements of the clinical process in the health record adhering to COTO, facility and discipline standards. Communicates with all relevant care providers within the circle of care to ensure integration of care plans and enhanced quality coordinated client care. Collaborates, negotiates, manages role overlap and support of inter-professional team to ensure comprehensive client care. Requirements

  • Demonstrated commitment to the values of Service, Responsible Stewardship, Community Responsiveness and Respect.
  • Minimum 2 years working in an outpatient feeding clinic (or equivalent) environment
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development in the areas of infant, neonatal and pediatric feeding, feeding issues related to autism and sensory processing
  • Knowledge and experience applying various pediatric OT frames of reference (Sensory Integration, Behavioural Analysis, Developmental Theories and Sensory and Motor Based Feeding Programs, Environmental Analysis and Systems Theories)
  • Bayley Scales of Infant and Toddler Development assessment, Hammersmith Infant Neurological Examination (HINE) and General Movements Assessment certified.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to work under pressure, prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
  • Proven ability to work as an effective member of an inter-professional team with exceptional interpersonal, advocacy, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Adaptable, creative, innovative and flexible.
