About The Position

The Work, Stress and Health Program is seeking a full-time permanent Occupational Therapist. This unique service works exclusively with third-party referrers, primarily supporting clients referred by the Workers Safety Insurance Board. The program provides specialized services including assessment and outpatient treatment for individuals with complex concurrent conditions such as chronic pain, addictions, concurrent disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, and other psychiatric disorders related to workplace accidents and/or trauma exposure. The role involves working as a valued member of a multidisciplinary team, providing client-centered assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation services for individuals who have suffered psychological injury or medication/substance-related difficulties due to traumatic or physical workplace accidents. Services include virtual and in-person delivery. This role may also involve supporting the Clinical Liaison with report reviews for quality assurance and assisting with triage mechanisms to facilitate patient flow.

Requirements

  • Registered Occupational Therapist in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario.
  • Experience working with clients with complex concurrent conditions including chronic pain, addictions, concurrent disorders, PTSD, depression, and other psychiatric disorders related to workplace accidents and/or trauma exposure.
  • Proficiency in providing psychotherapies including cognitive processing therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, dialectical behavioural therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) for anxiety and depression.
  • Experience with motivational interviewing, structured relapse prevention, behavioural activation, and exposure therapy.
  • Skills in assessment, treatment planning, and rehabilitation.
  • Ability to submit required reporting on time, according to contractual requirements, meeting assigned quality standards of reporting.
  • Professionalism and personality to work collaboratively.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to participate in multidisciplinary education and training.
  • Capacity to deliver training to external organizations.
  • Ability to contribute actively to program development opportunities.
  • Ability to support new contracts within the broader Work Stress and Health program as required.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Provide client-centered assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation services for clients who have suffered psychological injury, medication and/or substance related difficulties as the result of a traumatic or physical workplace accident or event.
  • Assess clients’ skills and needs, determine overall treatment and rehabilitation readiness, and support development of readiness.
  • Develop, implement, and coordinate rehabilitation-based treatment plans to support clients during their treatment and, if applicable, in their return to work.
  • Treat clients in individual and group settings, including the provision of psychotherapies such as cognitive processing therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, dialectical behavioural therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) for anxiety and depression with a focus on motivational interviewing, structured relapse prevention, behavioural activation and exposure therapy, and goal setting.
  • Submit required reporting on time, according to contractual requirements, meeting assigned quality standards of reporting.
  • Work collaboratively, providing excellence in customer service to clients, representatives of contract partners (including WSIB), clinical partner organizations, and other stakeholders.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary education and training.
  • Deliver training to external organizations.
  • Contribute actively to program development opportunities.
  • Support new contracts within the broader Work Stress and Health program as required.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
