About The Position

Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital is seeking an Occupational Therapist to join their PRN Pool for the Acute Care & Inpatient Rehab departments in St. Petersburg, Florida. This role involves providing per diem coverage as needed for weekday and weekend shifts. The Occupational Therapist will treat patients by using everyday activities to help them develop, recover, and improve the skills needed for daily living and working. Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital is a 480-bed teaching medical center with over 100 years of service, known for its comprehensive tertiary care and nationally recognized programs in various specialties. It is part of the larger Orlando Health system, combining extensive resources with community-focused care.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an approved program in occupational therapy.
  • Maintains current Occupational Therapist license in the State of Florida (temporary permit acceptable).
  • Maintains current BLS/HealthCare Provider certification.
  • 1 year experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates patients by gathering data from the patient, physician, interdisciplinary team, family, significant others, and other data sources.
  • Develops treatment plans that integrate with the continuum of care and include specific goals and objectives.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills to provide age-appropriate care for patients on the assigned caseload.
  • Assesses and interprets patient status, identifying age-specific needs and providing necessary care according to departmental policies.
  • Demonstrates competency in the use, care, and maintenance of profession-specific equipment, observing safety precautions and explaining equipment purpose.
  • Re-evaluates and modifies treatment plans and goals as appropriate.
  • Prepares written documentation as required by the department and care team.
  • Recognizes and communicates when a patient has received optimal benefit from therapy.
  • Ensures complete documentation and accurate billing.
  • Adheres to the State Practice Act and Standards of Practice.
  • Provides patient/family education as indicated.
  • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other relevant standards.
  • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
  • Participates in Performance Improvement, program development, student supervision, assigned committees, safety, and infection control as required.
  • Demonstrates awareness of legal issues, patient rights, and compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies.
  • Attends rehabilitation meetings, in-services, and patient care meetings as required for the assignment.
  • Practices efficient use and selection of supplies and equipment.
  • Instructs support personnel in their duties as necessary.
