Registered Occupational Therapist (OT)
About The Position
The Occupational Therapist (OT) provides direct rehabilitation care in occupational therapy to patients upon physician referral, in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and Life Care standards. This role involves following occupational treatment plans for patients, such as activities of daily living, and establishing, assessing, and modifying realistic, measurable, timely, and functional goals. The OT will also oversee and evaluate care given by OTAs, Rehab Aides, and students, chart appropriately and timely, and utilize therapy software accurately. Essential functions include exhibiting excellent customer service, assisting in patient evacuation, demonstrating dependable attendance, concentrating and using reasoning skills, and communicating productively within an interdisciplinary team. The role requires the ability to sit, stand, bend, lift, push, pull, stoop, walk, reach, and move intermittently during working hours, and to read, write, speak, and understand English.
Requirements
- NBCOT certified upon hire.
- Graduate of an accredited program in occupational therapy (BSOT or MSOT).
- Currently registered/licensed in applicable State.
- Must maintain an active license in good standing throughout employment.
- CPR certification upon hire or obtain during orientation.
- CPR certification must remain current during employment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and e mail.
- Must demonstrate good body mechanics at all times.
- Knowledgeable of practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing functions in the post acute care facility.
- Proficient in all competency areas including but not limited to: patient rights, and safety and sanitation.
- Read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
Nice To Haves
- One (1) year experience preferred.
- NBCOT renewal is optional going forward.
Responsibilities

- Communicates and functions productively on an interdisciplinary team.
- Participates in community health matters/projects as appropriate.
- Liaisons with patients, families, support departments, etc., to adequately plan for patient needs.
- Makes independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
- Implements and interprets the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the department.
- Maintains professional working relationships with all associates, vendors, etc.
- Maintains confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information.
- Understands and follows company policies including harassment and compliance procedures.
- Displays integrity and professionalism by adhering to Life Care’s Code of Conduct and completes mandatory Code of Conduct and other appropriate compliance training.
