About The Position

As an Occupational Therapist, your strong attention to detail and excellent evaluation skills are crucial to successfully restoring or improving each patient’s optimal level of function, independence and quality of life. For ElderONE Employment: 1 year experience with frail elderly population preferred.

Requirements

  • BS: Occupational Therapy (Required)
  • BLS - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association (AHA)
  • OT - Occupational Therapist - New York State Education Department (NYSED)
  • M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a complete initial evaluation of referred patients using evaluation protocols, standardized tests and clinical observations; develop and implement treatment plans, including short- and long-term goals and methods to achieve them; adjust treatment plan and goals as needed.
  • Maintain complete documentation of patient evaluation, treatment, progress and discharge status; counsel and teach patients and families; coordinate care plans with other involved health professionals and discuss changes in treatment programs with MDs.
  • Assist with the supervision and guidance of new personnel, assistants, students and volunteers as assigned; develop and conduct in-service training programs.
