The Occupational Therapist is a qualified professional responsible for directing, supervising, evaluating, and providing Occupational Therapy Services to clients in their homes, as prescribed by the Attending Provider. This role involves assessing clients' current level of functioning, establishing therapeutic goals, and performing re-evaluations. The therapist guides and instructs clients in prescribed therapeutic, self-care, and creative activities aimed at improving independence and physical and mental functioning. Key duties include establishing household management routines, recording and reporting client reactions and changes to the provider, and instructing clients, families, and other health team personnel in the use of prosthetic, orthotic, and assistive devices. The position also requires participation in various meetings, staff development activities, in-service education, case conferences, and discharge activities, as well as the supervision of Occupational Therapy Assistants when indicated. Effective communication with all care providers and weekly scheduling coordination with the DON are essential.
