About The Position

Lifemark is seeking passionate Occupational Therapists to join their team across the Burlington, Hamilton, and Niagara regions. The role involves providing individual and program-based treatments and assessments for individuals in Long Term Disability, supporting veterans, Canadian Armed Forces members, first responders, and others facing physical, cognitive, and mental wellness challenges through the PCVRS program. Requirements

  • Registered and in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists in your province.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of current Occupational Therapy standards, modalities and scope of practice; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Proficiency in computer skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of a multidisciplinary team.

Nice To Haves

  • 1-3 years of experience as an Occupational Therapist is preferred.
  • Newly Licensed Graduates are accepted.
  • Valid Driver's License and reliable vehicle may be required.
  • In some cases, Valid Vulnerable Sector screening check.
  • Clinical experience is an asset in areas such as brain injury/neurological rehabilitation, mental health, musculoskeletal/orthopedic injury, home safety, ergonomics and/or return to work.
  • Passion for your profession and commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Superior interpersonal relations, communication, problem-solving, time management, computer and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide both individual and program-based treatments and assessments for individuals in Long Term Disability, and support veterans, Canadian Armed Forces members, first responders, and individuals facing physical, cognitive and mental wellness goals through the PCVRS program.
  • Evaluate the worker's physical, cognitive, and psychological functions, as well as job demands and workplace environment.
  • Concussion management and return to function planning.
  • Perform clinical evaluations, provide exercises, functional tasks, and cognitive strategies (e.g., pacing, energy conservation) to address injury-related deficits.
  • Teach techniques like mindfulness, relaxation, and sleep hygiene to manage pain, fatigue, and emotional distress.
  • Provide education to the client and employer about the recovery process, the benefits of staying connected to work, and their roles in the plan.
  • Identify suitable modified duties, adapt the work environment, and monitor progress where appropriate.
  • Record assessment and treatment interventions in the client's chart.
  • Excel in a collaborative, inter-disciplinary team environment.
  • Exhibit sound professional judgment.
