About The Position

Amedisys, part of the Optum family of businesses, provides home health, hospice, and community-based services. The Occupational Therapist evaluates and treats patients in their homes to promote independence, safety, and improved quality of life. The role helps individuals regain or maintain daily living skills following illness, injury, or functional decline. The therapist collaborates with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members to develop individualized treatment plans in accordance with physician orders and agency policies.

Requirements

Graduate from an occupational therapy program accredited by ACOTE of AOTA, or successor organizations of ACOTE.
Hold a current occupational therapy license specific to the state assigned.
Be eligible to take, or have successfully completed, the NBCOT entry-level certification examination for occupational therapists.
Hold current CPR certification.
Have at least 1 year of occupational therapy experience to ensure sufficient knowledge and skills to safely provide services. Candidates with less than 1 year of experience require regional clinical leader approval, appropriate mentoring, and/or participation in a residency program.
Pass a drug test before beginning employment.

Responsibilities

Deliver all aspects of occupational therapy services under a physician-approved plan of care.
Ensure the plan of care addresses all problems identified in the assessment, or document the rationale when identified problems are not addressed.
Be accountable for the safety and effectiveness of the occupational therapy service delivery process.
Complete documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
Supervise the home health aide when an RN is not active in the case.
Perform other duties as assigned.
