About The Position

Amedisys, part of the Optum family of businesses, provides home health, hospice, and community-based services. The Occupational Therapist evaluates and treats patients in their homes to promote independence, safety, and improved quality of life. The role helps individuals regain or maintain daily living skills after illness, injury, or functional decline. The therapist collaborates with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members to develop individualized treatment plans in accordance with physician orders and agency policies.

Requirements

Graduate of an occupational therapy program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) of the American Occupational Therapy Association, Inc. (AOTA), or successor organizations of ACOTE.
Current license to practice occupational therapy in the assigned state.
Eligible to take, or have successfully completed, the entry-level occupational therapist certification examination developed and administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy, Inc. (NBCOT).
Current CPR certification.
At least 1 year of related occupational therapy experience; candidates with less than 1 year require approval from regional clinical leaders and appropriate mentoring and/or an established residency program.
Driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

Deliver all aspects of occupational therapy services under a physician-approved plan of care.
Ensure the plan of care addresses all problems identified in the assessment, or document the rationale when identified problems are not addressed.
Ensure the safety and effectiveness of the occupational therapy service delivery process.
Complete documentation accurately and on time.
Supervise the home health aide when an RN is not active in the case.
Perform other duties as assigned.
