About The Position

The Occupational Therapist (PRN Weekend Option) provides high‑quality, patient‑centered therapy services to individuals recovering from injury, illness, or disability. This role uses evidence‑based therapeutic activities to help patients develop, restore, or enhance the skills needed for daily living and functional independence. This PRN position primarily supports weekend coverage with additional weekday opportunities as needed. Orlando Health Advanced Rehabilitation Institute offers comprehensive CARF-accredited inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation programs for adults, adolescents and children, with specialty programs in stroke, spinal cord and brain injury rehabilitation. A dedicated 54-bed rehabilitation hospital provides post-acute care for patients requiring medical and intensive rehabilitative therapies covering a full range of orthopedic and neurological conditions. The facility has all-private rooms, three therapy gyms outfitted with the latest technology (e.g., weight-assisted treadmill, robotics for training in arm/hand coordination and walking, and communication-assistance technology), a simulated apartment, and an expansive outdoor space for additional therapeutic activity. Outpatient centers feature interdisciplinary teams working together to help each patient meet their individual rehabilitation goals and achieve the highest possible level of independence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy program.
  • Current Occupational Therapist license in the State of Florida (temporary permit accepted).
  • Current BLS for Healthcare Providers
  • No prior experience required

Responsibilities

  • Conducts thorough patient evaluations using information from patients, physicians, the interdisciplinary team, and family/caregivers.
  • Develops individualized treatment plans with measurable goals that align with the continuum of care.
  • Provides age‑appropriate and diagnosis‑specific therapy interventions.
  • Interprets assessment data to identify patient needs and deliver appropriate treatment per departmental protocols and policies.
  • Demonstrates competence in the use and maintenance of occupational therapy equipment while ensuring patient safety and understanding.
  • Re-evaluates patient progress and adjusts treatment plans and goals as necessary.
  • Complete all required documentation in a timely, accurate, and compliant manner.
  • Effectively communicates when a patient has achieved maximal therapeutic benefit.
  • Ensures accurate, compliant billing practices.
  • Adheres to the Florida State Practice Act, departmental standards, and organizational policies.
  • Maintains punctual and reliable attendance aligned with Orlando Health policies and applicable state and federal regulations (ADA, FMLA, etc.).
