About The Position

The Occupational Therapist (OT) provides patient-centered occupational therapy services on an as-needed basis to individuals in an acute care setting.

Requirements

  • Current State Physical Therapy Licensure
  • graduate of an approved school of Physical Therapy or graduate of accredited college of university with a certificate in Physical Therapy.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Must be available to work weekends, holidays, and fill in for staff absences.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum 1 year experience in an acute care or hospital setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • The OT is responsible for assessing functional needs, developing treatment plans, and providing interventions to restore and/or enhance the patient's ability to perform activites of daily living (ADLs) and improve functional independence.
  • Evaluate patients' functional status in areas includibng mobility, self-care, cognition, and psychosocial aspects.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on physician orders, clinical findings, and patient goals.
  • Provide interventions to improve physical. cognitive, and/or psychosocial functioning related to illness or injury.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists, and case managers to ensure coordinated care.
  • Document patient assessments, progress notes, treatment plans, and discharge summaries in accordance with hospital and regulatory standards.
  • Educate patients and caregivers on therapeutic techniques and strategies for continued care.
  • Participate in discharge planning, including recommending durable medical equipment (DME) and home modifications.
  • Maintain current knowledge of evidence-based practicies in acute care occupational therapy.
