Health Sciences North (HSN) is seeking an innovative individual for the position of Occupational Therapist to use a holistic, client, and family-centred approach to optimize safety, functional ability, and well-being to enable participation in activities of daily living within the areas of self-care, productivity (e.g. work, home, and school) and leisure throughout each level of the developmental spectrum. Emphasize the physical, cognitive, affective, and spiritual components of clients’ functional performance and the physical, institutional, social, and cultural aspects of the environment. The ideal candidate will have a current certificate of Registration in good standing with the COTO is required. We are looking for someone with a minimum of experience working with people who have severe and persistent physical illness. The Orthopedic and Neurosurgical unit at the Health Science North is a busy 45 bed unit staffed by a dedicated multidisciplinary team of surgeons, registered nurses, registered practical nurses, nurse clinician, pharmacist, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and social workers. Care is provided for clients with a variety of conditions including back and cranial surgeries, brain tumours, head and spinal cord injuries; hip fractures and various other fracture injuries as well as shoulder and hand surgeries, and trauma. The unit also provides care to over 850 knee and hip joint replacement clients annually. We are working together with the province to reduce wait times for these procedures.
