About The Position

This position is within Student Support Services and is for an Occupational Therapist. The role involves providing intervention services to enhance student learning potential, assist students in acquiring functional performance skills for the educational environment, and help students function independently. The therapist will work with students with disabilities, including those with ASD, ADD, and behavioral/emotional disabilities. The position requires knowledge of school rules, regulations, and procedures, and the ability to maintain behavior standards. The role also involves delivering oral presentations and written reports, analyzing needs objectively, and collaborating with students, parents, staff, and administration. Familiarity with relevant technology for data collection and communication is also necessary.

Requirements

• CT License
• Certified by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)
• Demonstrate excellence in the area of Occupational Therapy
• Thorough knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures of an occupational therapist and specialty area.
• Thorough knowledge of the principles and methodology of effective strategies and interventions for teaching students with disabilities.
• Thorough knowledge of school rules, regulations, and procedures; ability to establish and maintain standards of behavior.
• Ability to deliver and articulate oral presentations and written reports.
• Analyze needs and problems objectively.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with children, students, parents, staff, administration, and the general public.
• Knowledge of relevant technology, including but not limited to data collection systems, Chromebooks, and communication apps.
• Meet professional education requirements of the school district and state.
• Knowledge and skills in working with children with ASD, ADD and behavior and emotional disabilities.
• Must have proven ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis.

• Provide appropriate intervention services that are designed to enhance the student's potential for learning, assist the student in acquiring those functional performance skills needed to participate in and benefit from the educational environment, and help the student function independently.
• Deliver and articulate oral presentations and written reports.
• Analyze needs and problems objectively.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with children, students, parents, staff, administration, and the general public.
• Perform all other related work delegated or required tasks to accomplish the objectives of the total school program.
