Occupational Therapists (OT) provide care to patients based on the application of scientific occupational therapy principles to establish, develop, and/or maintain the ability to participate in the things they want and need to do through the therapeutic use of everyday activities. Common occupational therapy intervention works one-on-one with patients, focusing on their individual needs to help them achieve improved quality of life and independence goals such as participation in school and social situations. In addition, OT’s help patients recover from injury to regain motor skills, and provide supports to patients experiencing physical and cognitive changes or challenges due to injury, disability or aging.
