About The Position

The Occupational Therapist helps patients regain independence and quality of life so they can safely perform daily activities. The role involves assessing a diverse patient population, including patients with orthopedic, neurological, sensory, and cancer-recovery needs; developing treatment plans; and conducting evaluations and re-evaluations. The therapist collaborates with interdisciplinary teams, documents care thoroughly, and provides positive, motivating care to a high volume of patients. Success requires flexibility, adaptability, exceptional organization, and a personable, motivating approach to teamwork. The therapist performs evaluations, re-evaluations, and discharge summaries; progresses patients toward goals; and accurately documents results in writing or electronically for inpatients, outpatients, and home environments, in accordance with SRDH and occupational therapy practice standards. The therapist provides appropriate treatment, which may include modalities and therapeutic procedures to maximize functional skills and independence with activities of daily living, using equipment suited to the patient's age and size. The role also requires maintaining a safe environment that accounts for each patient's circumstances and age-related, physical, or mental-status risk factors, and using office or other rehabilitation equipment effectively and efficiently.
