About The Position
Boothby Therapy Services is hiring an Occupational Therapist (OT) for a school-based ESY (Extended School Year) summer position in Scarborough, Maine. This is a short-term, 20-hour assignment supporting students in a public school / special education setting. This opportunity is ideal for Occupational Therapists seeking flexible summer work, supplemental income, or school-based pediatric experience.
Requirements
- Active Maine Occupational Therapist license required
- Degree in Occupational Therapy (Bachelor's, Master's, or OTD)
- Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
Nice To Haves
- Interest or experience in pediatrics, school-based therapy, or special education preferred
Responsibilities
- Provide school-based occupational therapy services to students
- Conduct OT evaluations and assessments
- Develop and implement IEP (Individualized Education Program) goals
- Deliver direct therapy services (individual and small group)
- Support students with: Fine motor skills and handwriting, Sensory processing and sensory integration, Executive functioning and organization, Activities of daily living (ADLs) and school participation
- Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, PTs, and SLPs
- Recommend classroom accommodations, adaptive equipment, and assistive technology
- Participate in IEP meetings and team discussions
- Maintain documentation, progress notes, and compliance records
