Summary/Objective Provides the highest possible level of service to the patients; strives to provide a level of occupational therapy care that meets the standards prescribed by the hospital; administers appropriate occupational therapy modalities used in physical medicine and rehabilitation as prescribed by a referring physician; positively markets the total range of patient services offered.

Requirements

  • Graduated from an accredited Occupational Therapy School.

  • One year of experience in hospital, home health, geriatric setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts productivity studies and uses data to manage the patient treatments.
  • Interprets medical information for the staff; gives direction that assures the patient an expeditious recovery.
  • Evaluates malfunctioning equipment; makes temporary repairs if possible.
  • Teaches and instructs patients to carry out occupational therapy programs and in daily living activities and procedures continued at home.
  • Functions as an Occupational Therapist in all programs offered by the Occupational Therapy department.
  • Updates the services of the Occupational Therapy department as required by new information, changes in emphasis, legislation, etc.
  • Evaluates the workload of the Occupational Therapy department; assigns patients to Occupational Therapy Assistant to assure equitable duties and to reach the highest level of productivity.
  • Assists with the development of an annual budget for the needs of the Occupational Therapy service.
  • Keeps up to date with current corporate policies and procedures.
  • Provides leadership and direction, by example
