About The Position

Bronson Lifestyle Improvement & Rehabilitation Center (BLIRC) is seeking a compassionate and skilled Occupational Therapist to join our outpatient rehabilitation team in Kalamazoo. This role offers the opportunity to provide individualized, one-on-one care to a diverse patient population while working alongside a collaborative team of rehabilitation professionals. Candidates with lymphedema experience or certification are encouraged to apply. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Current Occupational Therapist license in good standing with the State of Michigan
  • BLS certification within three months of hire
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Basic computer and mobile device proficiency
  • Frequent standing, walking, reaching, bending, and direct patient interaction.
  • Candidates must be able to regularly lift, push, pull, or move up to 50 pounds and assist with patient care activities as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate patients' functional abilities and identify rehabilitation needs
  • Develop individualized treatment plans designed to maximize independence and function
  • Provide evidence-based occupational therapy interventions in an outpatient setting
  • Educate patients and caregivers on treatment plans, adaptive strategies, and home exercise programs
  • Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed
  • Assist patients in developing the skills necessary to safely participate in daily activities
  • Design or fabricate splints and recommend adaptive equipment as appropriate
  • Participate in interdisciplinary discussions and care planning
  • Contribute to program development and quality improvement initiatives
  • Interpret and implement physician referrals
  • Evaluate patient functional status through standardized assessments and testing
  • Establish functional baselines and measurable treatment goals
  • Provide direct patient care focused on improving functional independence
  • Educate patients, families, and caregivers
  • Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and treatment planning
  • Serve as a clinical resource within areas of expertise
  • Provide educational presentations and in-services as appropriate
  • Support departmental initiatives and process improvement efforts
  • Cross-train within Rehabilitation Services as needed
  • Complete accurate and timely documentation of evaluations, treatment plans, interventions, and patient progress
  • Maintain compliance with electronic medical record documentation requirements
  • Communicate barriers to timely documentation with leadership
  • Maintain complete and accurate patient records
  • Participate in committees, task forces, and improvement initiatives
  • Demonstrate strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Assist with supervision of COTAs, students, volunteers, and support personnel as appropriate
