About The Position

Lifemark is seeking a passionate Occupational Therapist dedicated to enhancing the health and well-being of Canadians. The role involves developing potential and making a difference by expanding access to care and creating lasting impact in the communities served. The position is part of the RTW (Return to Work) program, which offers stability and team-based work with competitive compensation. The RTW program provides interdisciplinary care for injured workers, preparing them for return to work. Clients are referred from WCB following workplace injuries, including musculoskeletal and psychological injuries. The successful candidate will be responsible for high-quality assessment and treatment of injuries, aiming to improve function, manage symptoms, and reduce the impact of workplace injury. This role requires close collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, including psychologists, physiotherapists, kinesiologists, and physicians, as well as other occupational therapists.

Requirements

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of current Occupational Therapy standards, modalities and scope of practice; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Registered and in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists in your province.
• Newly Licensed Graduates are accepted.
• Valid Driver's License and reliable vehicle may be required.
• In some cases, Valid Vulnerable Sector screening check.
• In some cases, Proof of Tuberculin (2-Step Mantoux Test) clearance (within 6 months).
• Proficiency in computer skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of a multidisciplinary team.

Nice To Haves

• 1-3 years of experience as an Occupational Therapist is preferred.
• Clinical experience is an asset in areas such as brain injury/neurological rehabilitation, mental health, musculoskeletal/orthopedic injury, home safety, ergonomics and/or return to work.
• Passion for your profession and commitment to ongoing professional development.
• Superior interpersonal relations, communication, problem-solving, time management, computer and documentation skills.
• Bilingualism - French and English are assets.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive, evidence-based Occupational Therapy services to clients.
• Apply clinical expertise and professional competence in the assessment, intervention, consultation, case management, discharge planning, education, and follow-up of clients.
• Perform clinical evaluations, including admission assessments, ADL assessments, specialized seating and positioning assessments.
• Identification of appropriate equipment needs with initiation of recommendations.
• Consult with local vendors regarding equipment trials and complete applications/funding letters to Ministry of Health, insurance agencies and other funding parties.
• Provide education on seating and positioning, independence with activities of daily living, wheelchairs and adaptive aides as well as providing ongoing education to clients and family to improve function, independence and safety.
• Provide ongoing evaluation of restraint use, wound prevention, falls, and injury prevention.
• Record assessment and treatment interventions in the client's chart.
• Excel in a collaborative, inter-disciplinary team environment.
• Exhibit sound professional judgment.
