About The Position

Texas Health is seeking a passionate Occupational Therapist (OT) to join our Acute Care team. This full-time position is based at Texas Health Ft. Worth, a 815-bed, Magnet-designated hospital serving the Ft. Worth community since 1930. You will be part of a supportive team of over 40 Occupational Therapists in an acute care trauma hospital, focusing on inpatient care. The role involves performing age-appropriate patient assessments, establishing plans of care, and utilizing therapeutic treatment techniques. You will also educate patients and families on treatment plans, safety, home programs, and assistive equipment. Documentation will be in accordance with departmental and regulatory guidelines. The focus will be on Daily Living Skills, Mobility, and Cognition of patients. You will join a team of highly motivated clinicians at the only Joint Commission Comprehensive Stroke Center in Fort Worth and a Level 1 Trauma center.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Completion of an Occupational Therapy program Required.
  • No Experience required – new grads are welcome!
  • OT - Occupational Therapist Texas Occupational Therapy License Upon Hire Required
  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly Required.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Problem- solving ability; Ability to teach others.
  • Time management skills; Good interpersonal and customer service skills, Basic leadership skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer experience with adult population, acute care hospital-based, inpatient experience.

Responsibilities

  • Performs age-appropriate patient assessment and establishes plan of care.
  • Uses therapeutic treatment techniques appropriate to patient age and desire for treatment.
  • Educates patient and family through instruction, demonstration, and/or appropriate handouts in treatment plan, safety issues, home programs/self-management and assistive equipment.
  • Documents all aspects of assessment, plan of care, and re-certifications in accordance with departmental, TJC, Medicare, and other applicable regulatory guidelines.
  • Works in partnership with peers, other disciplines, and departmental personnel.
  • Focus on Daily Living Skills, Mobility and Cognition of patients.
