About The Position

The Occupational Therapist will evaluate, plan and provide medically prescribed treatments to restore patients to their maximum performance and independent functioning through a plan of care and therapeutic process.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an occupational therapist program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education Association or other State Board of Health recognized accrediting body
  • Valid MS State Department of Health (MDH) Occupational Therapist (OT) license; or limited 90-day permit; Limited permit must be obtained and submitted prior to hire date
  • Valid driver's license required for positions assigned to Outpatient Physician Clinics
  • Standard occupational therapy practices, procedures, techniques and equipment
  • Human behavior and performance
  • Individual differences in ability, personality, and interests and the assessment and treatment of affective disorders
  • Identifying patients' medical visual-perceptual, cognitive, social or emotional and physical needs
  • Monitoring/assessing performance of individuals to make improvements or take corrective action
  • Thinking critically by using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
  • Using computers and Microsoft Office programs
  • Ability to prioritize tasks
  • Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas effectively through oral and written expression

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year of clinical experience in a hospital or rehabilitation setting

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates, plans, and provides care to optimize functional recovery of patient and minimize disability
  • Collaborates with patient/family and health care team to plan care
  • Provides patient care interventions based on patient acuity and functional status
  • Alters the plan of care and updates goals based on patient's response to treatment
  • Participates in planning and operational changes to achieve team and individual performance improvement goals
  • Observes and documents patient's response to treatment and progress
  • Assures accurate, concise and efficient documentation of patient progress in patient record
  • Communicates patient care needs with interdisciplinary health care teams
  • Facilitates patient education, discharge planning and functional maintenance with interdisciplinary staff and utilizing available resources
  • Serves as a patient advocate in identifying functional potential and promoting the appropriate utilization of services
