The Occupational Therapist will be responsible for planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing occupational therapy services, programs, and activities in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines. This role involves collaborating with staff from related departments, developing and maintaining standards, and participating in resident care planning and assessments. The therapist will assume responsibility for directing the occupational therapy department in conjunction with the Director of Rehabilitation, maintaining treatment records, and ensuring accurate billing. Key duties include administering therapy services, reviewing physician orders, selecting appropriate therapeutic activities, preparing residents for treatment, and documenting care. The position also involves staff development through in-service education and attending workshops, adhering to safety and sanitation standards, managing equipment and supplies, and upholding resident rights. The role requires working in various environments within the facility and communicating effectively with medical staff, nursing personnel, and other department directors. The therapist must be constantly alert for resident safety and participate in continuing educational programs.
