About The Position

Texas Health is seeking an Occupational Therapist (OT) for a PRN position in Therapy Services at Texas Health Ft. Worth, located at 1301 Pennsylvania Avenue, Ft. Worth, TX 76104. This role involves working mainly weekdays between 8:00 AM and 4:30 PM, on an as-needed basis. The position requires a commitment of 4 shifts per quarter, including 1 weekend day per quarter (every 3 months) and 1 holiday per year (Memorial Day, Labor Day, 4th of July, Juneteenth, New Year’s), with holidays being bid for. The Therapy Services department supports an 815-bed, Magnet-designated, full-service hospital that has served the Ft. Worth community since 1930. The team consists of over 40 Occupational Therapists in an acute care trauma hospital, focusing on inpatient care and assisting with splinting and wound care.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Completion of an Occupational Therapy program Required
  • No Experience required – new grads are welcome!
  • OT - Occupational Therapist Texas Occupational Therapy License Upon Hire Required
  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly Required.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Problem- solving ability; Ability to teach others.
  • Time management skills; Good interpersonal and customer service skills, Basic leadership skills.

Responsibilities

  • Performs age-appropriate patient assessment and establishes plan of care.
  • Uses therapeutic treatment techniques appropriate to patient age and desire for treatment.
  • Educates patient and family through instruction, demonstration, and/or appropriate handouts in treatment plan, safety issues, home programs/self-management and assistive equipment.
  • Documents all aspects of assessment, plan of care, and re-certifications in accordance with departmental, TJC, Medicare, and other applicable regulatory guidelines.
  • Works in partnership with peers, other disciplines, and departmental personnel
  • Focus on Daily Living Skills, Mobility and Cognition of patients.
