About The Position

Trinity Health Oakland Hospital is seeking an Acute Rehab Occupational Therapist to join their team in Pontiac, MI. This full-time position involves evaluating patients, designing and supervising treatment programs, and maintaining proper documentation. The role requires a Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy, current Michigan OT licensure, BLS certification, and NBCOT certification. The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal and customer service skills, a teamwork approach, and a positive attitude.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited institution with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy.
Current State of Michigan OT licensure.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
NBCOT certification.
Good interpersonal communication skills to deal effectively with patients, families, and hospital personnel.
Teamwork approach, a sense of humor, empathy, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude when executing job duties.
Excellent customer service orientation skills necessary in order to deal effectively with various levels of hospital personnel, outside customers and community groups.

Responsibilities

Evaluates patients, designs treatment programs in accordance with the physician prescription, supervises treatment programs, rehab assistants, technicians and maintains proper documentation as required by the department.
Perform objective patient evaluations using proper techniques with accurate and valid results.
Retrieve and interpret pertinent information from the patient's medical record, seeking appropriate information from other resources for further clarification if necessary.
Identify age related differences within the persons served and will adjust treatment style and expectations as appropriate.
Make decisions on whatever treatment style alterations are necessary based upon the patient's physician and cognitive function.
Provide and/or supervise the patient treatment.
Identify the need for orthotics, assistive devices, or home equipment, as appropriate for increased ADL function.
Must be able to meet productivity expectations as determined by management each fiscal year.
Process patient billing as required by the department.
Maintain all necessary documentation as required by departmental policy.
Maintain compliance with reimbursement requirements and authorizations.
Initiate and encourage good communication and relationships with physicians and other healthcare personnel involved in the provision of patient care.
Participate in departmental programs related to student education, Quality Assurance, community education, etc.
Build on existing skills and knowledge through continuing education.
Adhere to the code of ethics adopted by the department and the profession and to all departmental and hospital policies and procedures.
Participate actively in the daily operations of the department and contribute to its compliance with regulations and customer service expectations.

In accordance with unit or departmental practice, determines that appropriate charges have been entered for the correct patient, encounter, date/time of service, with any required modifiers. Make corrections as needed per charge capture policy/practice.
In accordance with unit or departmental practice, actively participates in on-going education and communication regarding revenue management.
In accordance with unit or departmental practice, assists with tracking and monitoring of equipment assigned to the unit. Requests services for maintaining equipment as needed.
In accordance with unit or departmental practice, proficient with the electronic health records for documentation, assessment, and care management, performing these activities concurrently with provision of care throughout the shift.
