Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in an occupational therapy curriculum accredited by ACOTE standards
- Initial registration from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy
- Hold a valid and unencumbered occupational therapy license as required in the state of practice
Responsibilities
- Assess patient needs
- Develop patient recovery plans
- Deliver occupational therapy
- Address the whole patient and see them as an individual
- Design programs that will restore, reinforce, and enhance patients' physical abilities and independence
- Adapt to the needs of the patient and find joy in the variety of the work and the settings
- Collaborate with peers
- Make referrals to help patients get the care they need to thrive
- Train patients and caregivers on the skills they need to promote independence and productivity
