About The Position

SportsMed Physical Therapy is a rapidly expanding multidisciplinary rehabilitation practice in New Jersey, offering services in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Occupational Hand Therapy, Chiropractic, and Acupuncture. We cater to a wide range of patients, including athletes, individuals recovering from surgery, older adults, desk workers, and those with various orthopedic, neurological, and functional conditions. We are seeking an Occupational Therapist specializing in functional rehabilitation to join our dynamic team. The primary focus of this role is to assist patients in enhancing their capacity to perform daily activities, regain autonomy, and return to meaningful pursuits.

Requirements

• New Jersey Occupational Therapy License
• Interest in functional rehabilitation and helping patients regain independence in their daily activities
• Strong clinical reasoning and problem-solving skills
• Ability to evaluate how physical and functional limitations affect a patient's ability to perform everyday tasks
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to establish strong relationships with patients and motivate them throughout their rehabilitation
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Computer literacy and ability to complete electronic documentation
• Commitment to continued professional development and learning

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and treat patients with a variety of physical, functional, and orthopedic limitations
• Help patients improve their ability to safely and independently perform activities of daily living
• Develop individualized treatment plans based on each patient's functional needs, goals, and lifestyle
• Address limitations involving strength, mobility, coordination, balance, endurance, and functional movement
• Incorporate therapeutic activities designed to improve patients' ability to perform everyday tasks
• Work with patients recovering from injury, surgery, illness, or other conditions affecting their ability to function independently
• Educate patients and appropriate caregivers on treatment plans, home programs, and strategies to promote continued progress
• Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans as appropriate
• Complete accurate and timely documentation of evaluations, treatments, and patient progress
• Communicate effectively with patients, referring providers, and other members of the SportsMed team
• Collaborate with other disciplines when appropriate to support the patient's overall rehabilitation goals
