About The Position

This position involves providing Occupational Therapy services within a school setting. The therapist will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and administering these services across all grade levels, demonstrating professional and intellectual competency. A strong understanding of Occupational Therapy principles as they apply to schools, as well as Special Education laws, policies, and procedures, is essential.

Requirements

  • Licensed by the Rhode Island Department of Health
  • Certified by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)
  • At least five years of successful school-based experience as an occupational therapist
  • Demonstrated professional and intellectual competency to plan, coordinate and administer Occupational Therapy services across the grade span
  • Extensive knowledge of Occupational Therapy as it applies to the school setting
  • Extensive knowledge of Special Education laws, policies and procedures
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to write reports and correspondences
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret policies, procedures and professional articles
  • Ability to be flexible in meeting scheduling needs
  • Ability to meet multiple demands in an efficient manner
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Google

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and administer Occupational Therapy services across the grade span.
  • Apply knowledge of Occupational Therapy to the school setting.
  • Adhere to Special Education laws, policies, and procedures.
