About The Position

The OT - Occupational Therapist provides direct rehab care in occupational therapy to patients upon physician referral in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and Life Care standards. This role requires participation in community health matters, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and effective communication with patients, families, and support departments. The therapist must make independent decisions, understand post-acute care facility operations, and implement departmental programs and policies. Key functions include following occupational treatment plans, establishing and assessing patient goals, overseeing care provided by assistants and students, charting appropriately, utilizing therapy software, exhibiting excellent customer service, assisting in patient evacuation, demonstrating dependable attendance, and utilizing reasoning skills and good judgment. The role also involves working productively within an interdisciplinary team and performing various physical movements as needed.

Requirements

  • NBCOT certified upon hire.
  • Graduate of an accredited program in occupational therapy (BSOT or MSOT).
  • Currently registered/licensed in applicable State. Must maintain an active license in good standing throughout employment.
  • CPR certification upon hire or obtain during orientation. CPR certification must remain current during employment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and e mail.
  • Must demonstrate good body mechanics at all times.
  • Knowledgeable of practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing functions in the post acute care facility.
  • Read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) year experience preferred.
  • Renewal of NBCOT certification is optional going forward.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct rehab care in occupational therapy to patients upon physician referral.
  • Follows occupational treatment plans for patients (i.e., activities of daily living).
  • Establishes, assesses, and modifies realistic, measurable, timely, and functional goals.
  • Oversees and evaluates care given by OTAs, Rehab Aides, and students.
  • Charts appropriately and timely.
  • Utilizes therapy software appropriately and accurately.
  • Exhibits excellent customer service and a positive attitude towards patients.
  • Assists in the evacuation of patients.
  • Demonstrates dependable, regular attendance.
  • Concentrates and uses reasoning skills and good judgment.
  • Communicates and functions productively on an interdisciplinary team.
  • Participates in community health matters/projects as appropriate.
  • Liaisons with patients, families, support departments, etc., to adequately plan for patient needs.
  • Makes independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Implements and interprets the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the department.
  • Maintains professional working relationships with all associates, vendors, etc.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information.
  • Understands and follows company policies including harassment and compliance procedures.
  • Displays integrity and professionalism by adhering to Life Care’s Code of Conduct and completes mandatory Code of Conduct and other appropriate compliance training.

Benefits

  • Full Time Compensation Range: $42 to $52
  • PRN Compensation Range: $50 to $55
