About The Position

The Occupational Therapist (OT) provides direct rehabilitation care in occupational therapy to patients upon physician referral, in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and Life Care standards. This role involves following occupational treatment plans, establishing and modifying patient goals, overseeing care provided by other therapy staff, and maintaining appropriate documentation. The OT must be proficient in various aspects of patient care, communication, and facility procedures, while also demonstrating good body mechanics and maintaining professional conduct.

Requirements

  • NBCOT certified upon hire.
  • Graduate of an accredited program in occupational therapy (BSOT or MSOT).
  • Currently registered/licensed in applicable State.
  • Must maintain an active license in good standing throughout employment.
  • CPR certification upon hire or obtain during orientation. CPR certification must remain current during employment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and e mail.
  • Must demonstrate good body mechanics at all times.
  • Knowledgeable of practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing functions in the post acute care facility.
  • Demonstrates dependable, regular attendance.
  • Concentrates and uses reasoning skills and good judgment.
  • Communicates and functions productively on an interdisciplinary team.
  • Reads, writes, speaks, and understands the English language.

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) year experience preferred.
  • NBCOT renewal is optional going forward.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct rehab care in occupational therapy to patients upon physician referral.
  • Follows occupational treatment plans for patients (i.e., activities of daily living).
  • Establishes, assesses, and modifies realistic, measurable, timely, and functional goals.
  • Oversees and evaluates care given by OTAs, Rehab Aides, and students.
  • Charts appropriately and timely.
  • Utilizes therapy software appropriately and accurately.
  • Exhibits excellent customer service and a positive attitude towards patients.
  • Assists in the evacuation of patients.
  • Participates in community health matters/projects as appropriate.
  • Liaisons with patients, families, support departments, etc., to adequately plan for patient needs.
  • Makes independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Implements and interprets the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the department.
  • Maintains professional working relationships with all associates, vendors, etc.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information.
  • Understands and follows company policies including harassment and compliance procedures.
  • Displays integrity and professionalism by adhering to Life Care’s Code of Conduct and completes mandatory Code of Conduct and other appropriate compliance training.
