About The Position

Lifemark Physiotherapy Synergy is seeking a passionate Occupational Therapist, LTD & Functional Capacity Evaluations, to join their team in Sherwood Park, AB. This role involves objectively assessing a person's ability to perform daily and work-related tasks, identifying limitations, and guiding rehabilitation, return-to-work planning, accommodations, and support needs for insurance/legal purposes. The goal is to help clients return to meaningful activities through personalized therapy for physical, cognitive, and mental health challenges. Requirements

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of current Occupational Therapy standards, modalities and scope of practice; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Registered and in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists in your province.
  • Valid Driver's License and reliable vehicle may be required.
  • In some cases, Valid Vulnerable Sector screening check.
  • In some cases, Proof of Tuberculin (2-Step Mantoux Test) clearance (within 6 months).
  • Proficiency in computer skills.

Nice To Haves

  • 1-3 years of experience as an Occupational Therapist is preferred.
  • Newly Licensed Graduates are accepted.
  • Clinical experience is an asset in areas such as brain injury/neurological rehabilitation, mental health, musculoskeletal/orthopedic injury, home safety, ergonomics and/or return to work.
  • Passion for your profession and commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Superior interpersonal relations, communication, problem-solving, time management, computer and documentation skills.
  • Bilingualism - French and English are assets.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive, evidence-based Occupational Therapy services to clients.
  • Apply clinical expertise and professional competence in the assessment, intervention, consultation, case management, discharge planning, education, and follow-up of clients.
  • Perform clinical evaluations, including admission assessments, ADL assessments, specialized seating and positioning assessments.
  • Identification of appropriate equipment needs with initiation of recommendations.
  • Consult with local vendors regarding equipment trials and complete applications/funding letters to Ministry of Health, insurance agencies and other funding parties.
  • Provide education on seating and positioning, independence with activities of daily living, wheelchairs and adaptive aides as well as providing ongoing education to clients and family to improve function, independence and safety.
  • Provide ongoing evaluation of restraint use, wound prevention, falls, and injury prevention.
  • Record assessment and treatment interventions in the client's chart.
  • Excel in a collaborative, inter-disciplinary team environment.
  • Exhibit sound professional judgment.
