About The Position

Nemours Children’s Health, Becks Woods is seeking a Full-Time Occupational Therapist to join their outpatient program in Bear, Delaware. Nemours is a leading pediatric health care system committed to providing integrated, family-centered care to children across multiple states. The Delaware Valley location is ranked among the nation’s best pediatric hospitals and offers intensive and acute inpatient and outpatient services across more than 30 pediatric specialties. This position involves providing occupational therapy services, including patient examination, evaluation, intervention, documentation, parent/caregiver education, communication, and coordination of care. The program serves children from birth to 17 with rehabilitation needs such as brain injury, spinal cord injury, neuromuscular disorders, and cerebral palsy post-surgery. Nemours is also an early intervention partner with Delaware’s Birth to Three Early Intervention Program, providing clinic-based services. This role offers an opportunity to join a busy and growing Therapy team.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy or its equivalent from an ACOTE-accredited university required.
  • Minimum of three (3) to six (6) months experience required. New graduates will be considered based on educational experiences.
  • State of Delaware Occupational Therapist License required upon hire.
  • A second license will be required for all clinical positions (DE, PA, or NJ). Must submit license or proof of application submission within 2 weeks of job acceptance, but this second license is not required to be active at the start of employment.
  • Pennsylvania clearances are required upon hire for those with a Pennsylvania license.
  • American Heart Association BLS certification required within 6 months of date of hire and must be maintained for duration of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Provides occupational therapy services such as patient examination, evaluation, intervention, documentation, parent/caregiver education, communication, and coordination of care with medical/clinical staff and outside agencies as appropriate.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in the care of all ages: pediatrics, adolescents, and adults.
  • Able to provide occupational therapy services to a variety of patient types with recognition of his/her own limitations while seeking appropriate mentorship as needed.
  • Completes timely documentation as required by departmental policy #7980.3.3, Joint Commission, and CARF standards.
  • Attends meetings related to patient treatment and contributes to discussion as an interdisciplinary team member.
  • Consults with other services, families, and outside agencies to recommend durable medical equipment, home/school modifications and transitional therapy program prior to discharge from therapy.
  • Maintains knowledge of and familiarity with insurance referral/authorization process and documentation requirements related to therapy services.
  • Completes all mandatory training; may include, but not limited to safety, infection control, corporate compliance, HIPAA, bioterrorism, CPR, and program specific respiratory training.
  • Participates in triage and coverage planning as necessary to meet patient care and departmental needs.
  • When required by assignment, participates in weekend/holiday inpatient coverage rotation, including checking the code blue cart per guideline #7980.GL.24.
  • Participates in conflict identification and resolution.
  • Works cooperatively on multidisciplinary, single discipline, program specific and specialty teams.
  • Assists in maintenance of department space and equipment.
  • Independently seeks to expand clinical knowledge and evidenced based practice through literature reviews, in-services, courses, and mentorships.
  • May provide input on new treatment intervention strategies to ensure evidenced-based and current practices.
